Hape VW Walker

Wednesday, 23 January 2019

As many of you know we are a bit VW mad in our house. Both myself and my husband love classic VW's and we have a 1969 Camper and a newer T5. So when I was contacted asking if I would be interested in trying out Hape's new camper walker, I jumped at the chance.

What I loved straight away was that it was an official VW licensed product, as a lot of the time you find people jumping on the happy campers bandwagon and making knock offs. Because it is an official product, the attention to detail was great, one of my favourite bits being the VW hubcaps that I have on my actual camper.

As the world’s largest producer of wooden toys, Hape is clearly dependent on the use of natural materials. A full line of bamboo toys takes advantage of the special properties of this highly renewable material. Plastic parts are ensured durable enough to last for generations in order to encourage toys to be passed down rather than tossed out. Hape don’t make toys that have inclination of violence, and encourage thoughtful play and learning. They are really focused on using non-toxic paints and glues, whilst using bamboo, which grows back by the time they have made a toy. I love that they are an ethical company, making toys to encourage learning and growth and have a full range of products for a wide range of tastes and ages.

With it being flat packed and wooden, you expect to take a million pieces out of the box and for it to take an age to put together. But it was so simple and easy, just two screws to hold the handle on to the base and everything else was already done. The quality is awesome and even though Tobias is still a little bit too young for it, he loved having a little photo shoot in it for now.

You can find the Camper Walker along with a full range of Hape toys at Smyths.
