Maternity Bump Session

Saturday, 16 June 2018

Last weekend I finally got around to doing my maternity bump session. Nearly every day I speak to expectant mothers in the studio and tell them how they will regret not having a bump shoot when they come in to book a newborn session. So when my sister asked me when I was going to do mine, I knew I was going to have to bite the bullet and take my own advice.

I hate having my photo taken, so it was a massive step out of my comfort zone. Lots of our wedding photos were taken on the beach and its one of my favourite places to go if we have any time off, so it seemed like the obvious choice, especially with the lush weather we've been having recently. I knew that my studio wasn't the right setting for me, because I spend every day there and it just wouldn't have felt special enough. It would have been a lot easier mind and I would have felt a little more in control than I did perched on a rock in the middle of the sea trying to explain how to use a camera and what angles to use, to my sister and husband.

They did a lot better than I was expecting though. They obviously needed editing and a few of them are a mixture of a few photos combined just so that I could get rid of or add certain elements in, but overall I'm really happy we got the chance to go and capture some images of my bump, with my face in this time!

And of course, it wouldn't be a Savage Family photo without a cheesy dog photo! Every time I look at this photo it makes me laugh out loud. It's so extra and over the top but I genuinely love it. Pugsey's little face is so happy to be having a photo with us. Let's hope he's still as happy when the baby actually arrives!
