Our Kind Of Cruelty, Araminta Hall - Review

Mike and Verity have a special game. The Crave.

They play it to prove what they already know: that Verity loves Mike. That she needs Mike.

Even though she’s marrying another man.

Now Mike knows that the stakes of their private game are rising.

This time, someone has to die…

I read this in 3 days. You may be thinking, that’s not that unusual, but in those 3 days I also moved my 6 months pregnant self into a new house. Every evening when my husband and I got too tired to do any more unpacking or cleaning I practically ran to bed to read what was going to happen next. I took it to work with me and sat there thinking about excuses of why I needed to take a reading break. It was so gripping I just needed to know what happened.

I have been loving thrillers recently so when I was contacted asking if I wanted to receive a proof copy of this, I jumped at the chance. I already had 3 others that I had to get through first, reviews are coming up soon for those, but I knew this one was going to be hard to beat. The whole story centres around Mike and his relationship with his ex girlfriend, Verity. The whole way through you are wondering if Mike is really as deluded as he seems or is there some truth in what he is thinking. It’s so refreshing to read a flawed male protagonist and see the whole story from his point of view. His disturbing mindset pushes the story on and you are left second guessing every assumption you’ve made about another person or their actions.

It was nail biting until the very last word. And still days later, as I am writing this, I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it. Our Kind Of Cruelty is on sale from the 3rd May, make sure you have the time to get through it straight away though, you won’t get any work done while it is playing on your mind!

Have you got any book recommendations? What are you reading at the moment?
