The Power - Naomi Alderman - Review

Saturday, 28 October 2017

All over the world women are discovering they have the power.
With a flick of the fingers they can inflict terrible pain - even death.
Suddenly, every man on the planet finds they've lost control.

The Day of the Girls has arrived - but where will it end?
Looking for a book that will inspire you and get you genuinely interested in making a change in our amazingly messed up world? Well The Power is here and I didn't know how ready I was, until I opened the first page.

I saw lots of people saying every woman needs to read this book, but I think every person should be reading it. It paves the way for conversations about how men have treated women for centuries and what we can do to help create a better environment for the next generation of girls and what equality will really look like.

When teenage girls start to awaken an electric current inside them and realise they can use it as a weapon the world falls into chaos. The governments don't have a plan in place to deal with it and nobody knows how or why it has happened. The Power follows a select few throughout their journey of discovery and awakening and puts a microscope onto the relationships and expectations of each gender. I couldn't stop reading and when I wasn't, it was all I could think about!

If you haven't already read it, I urge you to go grab a copy! And if you have, let me know what you thought in the comments below.
