The Addams Family Musical, Cardiff

Tuesday, 15 August 2017

Last Friday myself and a few friends headed to the Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff Bay to watch The Addams Family Musical. I had been looking forward to it since seeing Carrie Hope Fletcher singing 'Pulled' in a video on Youtube and even though I had no idea what the story line of the show was, I knew I had to see it!

Joining Carrie was The Book of Mormon's Oliver Ormson, Samantha Womack (Eastenders) and Les Dennis (Coronation Street) to name but a few. I thought the casting was spot on, there were a few names I was a little nervous about but everyone held their own.

We had awesome seats which meant we could see every little bit of detail in the set and costume design which again was amazing! The Addams Family Ancestors costumes had me wishing for Halloween already, they had been meticulously planned and not a thing was missed. They were perfect. The set, again was so detailed and just dragged you in to the Addams Family world.

The score was so beautifully creepy it had me in awe, with all the music and lyrics written by Andrew Lippa. It's full of syncopated rhythms and clashing chords that bring the quirky and eeriness if the Addams Family to life.

I was so pleasantly surprised by the show. I was really looking forward to it going but I didn't realise how much I was going to fall in love with it all before I left. I really hope this gets another tour or a residency in London soon so I can go and see it all over again!

There are still a few dates in the UK that you can grab tickets for, so if you haven't already you can get them HERE!
