Walking Through Wales

Monday, 19 June 2017

I love exploring the amazing landscapes we are spoiled with throughout Wales and as part of our Walk All Over Cancer fundraising, my family and I have been trying to get out together as much as possible to keep each other motivated.

This weekend we decided to try out the walk up Gwaelod Y Garth Mountain. My mother had seen it on Weatherman Walking ( I swear she's not as boring as she sounds haha) and when we had a quick look online to see the views we were all excited to get going. The base of the mountain is just past Taffs Well and the walk up wasn't too difficult apart from the lack of shade in the sweltering heat.

When you get to the top you are greeted with views for miles. From one side you can see the Cardiff skyline and across the Bristol channel and from the other you can see all the way up the valleys to Brecon and Pen Y Fan. We sat up on top for a little while taking in the views and having a rest, and obviously I took a bit of time taking some photos. I could have stayed up there for hours taking it all in.

The walk back down was a little more difficult as it was very steep but it was well worth it. We are all still on track for our 300,000 steps this month with only 11 days left to go! So if you want to sponsor us and help raise money for Cancer Research you can click HERE.

Have you been on any amazing walks through Wales that we can try?
