Being a Photographer...

Wednesday, 10 May 2017

When I tell people I am a photographer the usual reaction is "ha, aren't we all, look at this I took with my phone" or "that's cool, but what's your real job". Nobody ever expects that my full time, real life, grown up job is being a photographer and that I run my own studio.

Now this isn't as glamorous as it sounds, I live in a small village in the Welsh valleys (no it's nothing like the TV show) so the majority of my work is families and babies. My main passions when I was studying photography was fashion and band photography. I still get to shoot these but not nearly as often as I would like at the moment. A few weeks ago I was having a bit of a down day and it dawned on me, I had been so focused on shooting babies and families (I know how wrong that sounds) that I hadn't worked on anything just for fun in a long time. I love working with families and creating artwork that people cherish forever but it can feel a little constricting at times. Now and again I need to work on a project that allows me to be as creative as possible and something that I can really push the boundaries with.

So on to my very drawn out, rambling point. Over the next few weeks I am going to be working with lots of creatives on some editorial styled sessions. I will be posting lots of photography related posts including behind the scenes. I am still looking for more MUA's, models, stylists and any other creatives that want to collaborate so if that is you contact me on and I will get back to you asap. But I cannot wait to get my creative juices flowing and shoot for fun again.

Are there any specific photography related posts you would like to see? Let me know in the comments.
