London Trip

Sunday, 17 January 2016

Just before Christmas my husband, me and two of our friends decided to book a trip to London to finish off our shopping and watch a musical. I had been dying to see The Book Of Mormon for so long so as soon as I seen there were tickets available for Christmas week, I knew it was meant to be.

We drove up the Sunday before Christmas and stayed in a hotel on the outskirts of central. Due to the timing of the trip central hotels were a fortune and the hotel we stayed at was next to a tube station so travelling in only took 20 minutes.

We managed to cram quite a lot into our first day with of first stop being the usual Camden Market for some Bang Bang Chicken and then on to Selfridges for a quick spot of shopping. We then made a stop at the Science Museum before heading to Hyde Park for Winter Wonderland.

I had never been to Hyde Park and even though loads of people had told me how big the Winter Wonderland was there I really didn't expect it. We got on the big wheel and until we was above everything I really didn't appreciate the size of the area.

We also stopped and had a drink at the carousel bar which you had to hop on and off as it didn't stop spinning.

Then Monday was a bit of a wash out. After having a lovely breakfast the rain just ruined any plans we had to walk around and see any more sights. We did manage to get a few more shops in but then we all decided it was time to stop in a coffee shop near the theatre to dry off before we went in.

The perfect choice for this was The Theatre Cafe. It is my favourite coffee shop I have ever been in. The walls and tables were plastered in theatre posters and there was an ipad on the counter for you to add songs to their playlist (all musicals, of course) the staff were lovely and it was just a lovely place to relax and watch the world go by over a cup of coffee.

After I had annoyed everyone in the cafe with my sing alongs we decided to head to the Prince of Wales Theatre to grab our seats.

The Book Of Mormon was one of the best shows I've seen in a long time. It was laugh out loud funny to the point where I was in tears. The songs are so catchy and cleaver and all four of us thoroughly enjoyed it.
