September Plans

Saturday, 29 August 2015

September is nearly on us for another year which means that a lot of my friends are either going back to university and college or are going back to their teaching jobs. This summer has flown and it doesn't feel like I've done half as much as I wanted. But with the winter looming ever closer I have started making my Autumn plans.

When I say plans, I mean what movies and TV shows am I going to watch, because everyone knows that come September/October all the good TV starts. In particular I can't wait for Homeland to start back and the new Fear The Walking dead started last week and looks really promising.

TV also ties in with my hibernation plans. As most people will be getting back to routine there will be a lot less plans being made. Which means it will be the perfect opportunity to go into hibernation and super scrimping mode for a while to save for Christmas.

The lack of plans will also give me and nick the perfect opportunity to film more YouTube videos. If you watch my channel, you will have noticed that I have started doing a lot more videos with Nick. We were going to start a second channel together but decided it would be a lot easier to just upload it to my channel as I don't have enough time to do both. We have already started filming more and are hoping over the next few weeks we will to be able to start uploading at least twice a week.

What are your September and Autumn plans?

Twitter Chats - Your Opinions

Thursday, 27 August 2015

Both myself and Savannah really enjoy getting involved in Twitter chats. It something we try to do as often as possible. I love that the community all get together to chat about different topics and help each other out with certain problems. I have also noticed, however, a few dramas going on, and a little animosity directed at other bloggers. It got me wondering if sometimes the blogging community is only supportive and welcoming to those blogging about the 'right' things?

I myself have never been at the receiving end of any upset and would like to think that I've only ever been supportive to other bloggers. But I thought I would open up a discussion to see how everyone else felt? Did those people causing the drama bring it on themselves? Or is the blogging community only nice until you disagree with something that is the 'norm'?

Just to clarify, I am of the opinion that the blogging community is great. They have been nothing but supportive to us. I just thought I would start a discussion and see how everyone else felt about Twitter chats and how they effect the community.

August Favourites

Tuesday, 25 August 2015

This month my I have four favourite products from two very different companies, Lancôme and Primark.

The first product is Lancôme's Advanced Génifique Eye Serum, I only have a sample size but after the first use I was raving about it. I absolutely love it. This serum cools and moisturises the eyes whilst reducing the appearance of bags. The second product from Lancôme is La Vie est Belle Eau de Parfum. I had been loving this perfume since around April time but only having a squirt when I passed a perfume counter. Then my mother and father bought me a bottle on their way home from their holiday a few weeks ago and I haven't stopped wearing it.

Primark is not somewhere I usually buy makeup from but the coloured eyeliner was on the end of an isle reduced to 50p. You all know how much I love a bargain so I picked it up and loved it. Then on my next visit I saw this highlighter and thought I'd give it a go seen as the eyeliner was so good. Both products are really good for the price so I will be keeping my eye out for more Primark makeup bargains.

What are your August favourites?

What I Miss About Education

Monday, 24 August 2015

This time of year has made me really sad ever since I graduated. I looked forward to the start of September nearly as much as the run up to Christmas. I know, I know, I sound like a top nerd but I absolutely loved school and university. I would give anything to be starting a new term in a few weeks.

Source
My most favourite part, which I'm sure lots of you will agree with me on, was the new stationary. I loved having new pens and notebooks and feeling like it was a brand new start. Our school also used to hand us out year planners which were awesome. I feel like thats where my obsession with lists and planning stemmed from.

Source
The start of the university term was also the time when I got to pick my modules for that year. I loved reading the overviews of each class and getting excited about what was coming up. Reading bills and sorting through my business accounts is just a tad less exciting!

Of course there is also seeing your friends, school friends I tended to see through the summer but my university friends all went home for the summer, so it was great catching up with everyone. As soon as the induction for the year was over it was straight to the SU shed (yes it really was that small) for some grub and a natter.

All in all I just loved the whole education experience. I have been thinking about going back and studying for my PGCE part time so that I could teach photography in schools and seeing everyone else getting ready to start in September is tempting me even more.

Disney Series - Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party

Saturday, 22 August 2015

Today I have another Disney series post for you, I am now officially on the 10 day countdown, how exciting! During our holiday, my boyfriend and I came across an event called 'Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party'. I had never really heard of this before so we decided to do some research as it sounded quite fun. The disney website stated that the Magic Kingdom park is decorated with halloween decorations and even the characters are dressed up in halloween costumes. The park is open for guests with tickets to this event only from 7pm - 12am, the park puts on halloween themed parades and firework displays and this year even has the 'Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular with the Sanderson sisters making an appearance, as soon as I read this I was sold, I am obsessed with Hocus Pocus. Even though you have to pay separately for a ticket to this event, I really think it's worth doing it as the park will be a lot quieter allowing you to go on a lot more rides and see a lot more things. It's also a great idea to get you in the mood for Halloween. I can't wait to see what this event is like.

Lush Dark Angels Face Mask

Friday, 21 August 2015

Last week my skin decided to break out in the worst state it has been since my teens. I was horrified. As someone who doesn't wear makeup on a regular basis, it's hard to feel confident enough to go without in public, when your face looks like it's about to erupt at any second. So when I was in the Lush blogger event this week, I decided to pick up a new mask and try to clear it up.

I went for the Dark Angels mask as it has charcoal in it to exfoliate the skin and rhassoul mud to cleanse. It doesn't look great, pretty much looks like coal in a tub but it smells lovely. The pot says to take a small piece and mix it with a little water in your palm to create a paste. This is a little easier said than done, I managed to get it everywhere and it tends to turn anything it touches black. So after fighting to get the mask on my face, I quickly had to run around and clean the bathroom just incase it stained.

It feels lovely going on, I think I could have possibly used a little more but after getting it everywhere the first time around, I didn't want to risk it with my already wet hands. Washing off, again, felt great and my skin felt soft and nourished afterwards. It left a little bit of residue in the bath when I got out but was gone with a quick wipe over.

On first use, I really like this mask. I don't think it is one I will use all the time as it takes so much effort, because it is so messy. But my skin definitely felt a lot calmer straight away and the fragrance was lovely.

Have you tried Dark Angels? What is your favourite face mask from Lush?

PugFest's 1st Birthday

Thursday, 20 August 2015

Last weekend I attended Pugfest's 1st birthday event in Cardiff. We missed the last event in Cardiff as it was the weekend we adopted Pugsey and we wanted him to be all settled before we took him. I didn't really know what to expect as Pugsey gets very nervous around other dogs, especially male. However, when he has met other pugs he has been fine so we thought we would see how he would get on.

Pugsey was completely fine with all the other dogs, he spent more time sniffing tyres and benches than he did bothering with the other pugs. The event itself had a few stalls selling accessories and clothes and had lots of activities going on for the pugs, including a pug dash.

We had a great time and are really looking forward to the Christmas event. Hopefully Pugsey will try and make friends with the dogs this time and not the seating.

Lush Cardiff Summer Collection Blogger Event

Wednesday, 19 August 2015

Last night we were invited down to Lush Cardiff for the launch of their new Summer Collection. A lot of the new products were previous Oxford St exclusives and old favourites reimagined into even better products.

We are massive fans of bubble bars and melts and the new range are awesome. I think Milky Bath is definitely a firm favourite with the both of us from last night. A lot of the old favourites that have been brought back seem to have got a lot bigger and better with Karma being one of those. It now has a melt in the top to make your bath that little more luxurious.

We were treated to lovely refreshments, as always, and the staff showing us each product couldn't be more helpful. We always love going to these events because all of the staff make sure each individual is OK and is having a good time, we always feel so welcome.

Another favourite of ours is the bath bombs and again I feel like we might have a new favourite in Frozen. There were quite a few new additions to the bath bomb range and another one I can't wait to try is Intergalactic, it smelt so refreshing and relaxing.

Another major perk to these events is the goody bags at the end of the night. I bought a few goodies which the posts will be up for soon but we also had a Frozen Bath Bomb, Wash That Man Right Out Of My Hair Shower Gel and Golden Handshake Hot Hand Mask given to us to try.

As always we had a great time and we can't wait for the Christmas Event already. Have you got any favourites from the new range yet?

Making My House A Home - Bedroom

Tuesday, 18 August 2015

Our bedroom is a very odd shape so finding furniture that fits in the gaps is a bit of a task. I would love to get a new bed but can't decide on whether I would prefer a frame made of palettes that is very low or the complete opposite, a luxurious high bed. I love the shabby chic look in bedrooms and pastel colours would be lovely to tie everything together.

I have been loving Dunelm at the moment for their furniture. There is a new store opening close to me and I can't wait!

Disney Series - Venturing Out

Monday, 17 August 2015

Hi guys, I hope you all had a lovely weekend. Today I have another disney series post for you, however it isn't really disney related. In two weeks myself and my boyfriend Shane fly to Disneyworld Florida, during our time there we wanted to try something different. I remember hearing a few people say about Discovery Cove and how amazing it was.

We decided to look on the website and was amazed by what we could do if we went there. Discovery Cove allows you to swim with dolphins which is something that I have wanted to do since I was little.

We decided to book this and also the SeaVenture, I wasn't too keen on this as I am terrified of being underwater and surrounded by fish but it was something that Shane wanted to do and I didn't want him to do it alone. Even though I am slightly worried about this I think it will be an amazing experience.

If any of you have been to Discovery Cove let me know!

BoomTown Fair Chapter 7

Saturday, 15 August 2015

This weekend is BoomTown Fair, Winchester. I had never heard of this festival before my husband's band got booked to play earlier in the year and as soon as I saw it, I was amazed. The festival is made up of different districts, Fingertrap played the Wild West.

We went yesterday, it was supposed to be a 2 and a half hour drive but due to the amount of people trying to get in, it took us just over 5 hours. After we got there we were taken to an artists holding area with all of the equipment where we waited for a mini bus to pick us up and take us to the back of the stage. The festival was so huge that it took us the best part of 20 minutes to get back stage and once we had off loaded there wasn't a massive amount of time for us to have a look around.

I did manage to go have a look around the Wild West District and also Mayfair, which had a roller disco and live theatre performance going on. Everyone was dressed up and looked like they were having the best time ever. I was so gutted that we only had the short amount of time we did. It would have taken a whole day just to explore the districts without getting to see any bands.

A Level Results - It's OK That You Didn't Get The Grades

Friday, 14 August 2015

Yesterday was A Level results day. It's a day that a lot of people would have been dreading and others counting down the days to find out if or where they would be attending university. I remember my results day being something that caused me so much anxiety I didn't actually go to bed the night before. I stayed up refreshing UCAS to see if I had got in to any of my choices.

For me, A Levels were my do over. I didn't fail miserably at my GCSE's, I did quite well, but I was just off the grades I needed in one subject to study the science A Level that I wanted to do and the course was full so they couldn't allow any movement in the entry requirements. I was gutted. For the longest time all I wanted to do was study forensic science at university and just by opening an envelope my dream had gone. Luckily I had done well, over all, my lowest mark being a C so I could choose any other subjects my school was offering. That summer I had to rethink my whole plan, what did I want to do if I couldn't study science. At the time I thought it was the end of the world, but in actual fact, not getting the grade was probably the best thing that happened to me.

I decided to study 3 A Level's at school and then a further A Level in college in the evenings. I chose Photography at college and as most of you already know, went on to study it at university and now I am self employed running my own studio. It was so hard trying to find something that I could study that I would love and for the first few weeks I really thought I had made a mistake. But that failure led me on to a much better dream that I didn't know I had, that has given me so many amazing opportunities. I reinvented myself and found a new passion and I only have failure to thank.

So if you didn't quite get what you wanted yesterday, or if you still don't know what you want to do with your life. There is still plenty of time to find your calling. Try new things and don't be afraid to fail, you never know where it will lead you!

Harry Potter Themed Newborn Shoot

Thursday, 13 August 2015

Last week Savannah's sister gave birth to a beautiful baby girl, Ava-Beth. I would just like to take a quick second to say a massive congratulations to the whole family! Today I finally got to meet her and have a massive cwtch and take her photos.

When I spoke to Lowri and Kyle about what they want from their newborn shoot they originally wanted as girly as possible but then Kyle mentioned the possibility of a Harry Potter theme and I got a little over excited. Straight away I knew what I was going to do as I already had all of the props at home. It worked out exactly as I had hoped and it's one of my favourite newborn sessions I've done. They had lots of lovely, girly photos too but this was too cute not to share.

PLL Finale

Wednesday, 12 August 2015

(Source)

*Warning, this post contains quite a few spoilers*

Last night was the mid season finale of Pretty Little Liars and I was so excited to finally find out who A is. I have been watching this show for about two or three years and I'm obsessed with it. After scrolling through facebook and twitter this morning I seen a tonne of tweets and statuses on how angry people were with the finale of Pretty Little Liars and the unmasking of A. In last nights episode, Cece Drake was unmasked as the person who had been tormenting the girls for many years. As she took off her black hoodie I felt slightly dissapointed as I was desperate for A to be one of the liars or one of the boyfriends, I wanted it to really take me by surprise and have a huge impact on me. After that I thought that I wouldn't really enjoy the finale as this wasn't the person that I wanted to be 'A'. However as Cece told her story on how she was born as Charles and was Alisons brother, but always wanted to be a girl, I was really intrigued by how everything pieced together. I thought her story was really moving and was quite sad, it took a different turn to what I had expected. I was expecting myself to feel hatred towards 'A' but as I watched Cece pour her heart out it was difficult not to feel sorry for her. Sara Harvey was also revealed to be both redcoat and the black widow, I wasn't too keen on this storyline as I just didn't understand her reason for doing this, it didn't really seem to fit together. I desperately wanted this episode to go on for longer as there were so many questions that I felt were not answered, hopefully they will be in the next half of the season. I can't wait for the five year jump to see where all the characters are in their lives and how they have changed.

Did you enjoy the final of PLL?

A Weekend On The Road with Fingertrap

Tuesday, 11 August 2015

This weekend me and Pugs decided to go on a little road trip and see Nick play at a few festivals. It was Brecon Fringe Festival weekend which is always a busy time for Fingertrap, so we jumped on the band wagon (sorry, rubbish joke), we got in the van and headed off. Because they were playing in so many different places over the weekend it meant we could see loads of our friends and family in different venues. The first gig was in Margam Park for Kaya Festival and then after a late night it was straight back in the van and to Tenby.

It was a beautiful day and after showing a friend from Germany around we headed for the venue. When we got there we realised something was up and, to cut a long story short, their set was cancelled last minute so after a little more sight seeing it was back in the van and straight to Brecon. Unfortunately I didn't take my camera, as I knew it was going to be super busy everywhere and I didn't want to have to look after that and Pugsey, so I only have photos from my phone.

Brecon was awesome, as always, and the boys had a full crowd. The pub hit capacity and had people queueing all the way up the street, some even tried sneaking in. They always love playing Brecon Jazz weekend as the crowds really love their music up there and they are forever getting stopped for photos and to sign merch when we walk around the town. After a night in my parents caravan with us all crammed in on airbeds we woke to my dad making us bacon rolls for the road. Then it was on to the next gig.

The last gig was in Coleford, Forest of Dean. It was a small community run festival but it was probably the best gig of the weekend. The stage and sound was great and the crowd really enjoyed the boys' set. We were all so tired getting back in the van after packing the equipment away but I couldn't stop smiling! I am so proud of Nick and the rest of the boys in everything that they have and are achieving! They have just finished recording their next single, and I can't wait to show you all!

Next show is at BoomTown Fair on Friday, they are playing the China Town Stage with Less Than Jake. I have a pit pass for this festival so I will definitely be taking my camera and taking some better photos.

Meet Ava-Beth

Monday, 10 August 2015

A few of you may have been wondering where I have been over the last few days. If you didn't know my sister was pregnant and was due on the 20th August. However, my niece decided to make an appearance two weeks early. On Wednesday morning my sister was taken in to hospital as her waters had broken and she was getting pains, she was in for a few days before anything started to happen. On Friday night my sisters contractions started to get a lot stronger and I knew the baby was nearly here. Along with my sisters boyfriend, I was her birthing partner right up until the point where she needed my mother, haha. Ten minutes before the birth my mother took over and I popped to my house to get everything ready as my mother said that she would be a good few hours yet, boy was she wrong. My house is only a five minute drive from the hospital and as soon I pulled up and got in to the house I had a phonecall off my mother to say that I needed to wake my dad up and get back over there as soon as possible as the baby was nearly here.

At 10:55pm my beautiful niece Ava-Beth entered the world and I was so overwhelmed with emotion. She is so perfect and it's crazy to think how much love you can feel for something so small. I was incredibly proud of my sister as she listened to the midwives and completely took in everything they said and was so focused. I am also so proud of my sister's boyfriend as he handled the whole experience so well and constantly supported my sister throughout it all.

Making My House A Home - Living Room

Sunday, 9 August 2015

I have been living in my house for nearly 9 months now and I apart from when we first moved in, I don't think we have done anything to it. Over the last few weeks I have been trying to tackle the rainforest that is my garden, but with the weather being so typically British, I haven't got very far. So I thought I would start a little series on my inspiration and ideas for my house and hopefully by the end of it, it will start to feel a little more homely.

My first inspiration board is for the living room. Ours is quite small but has a lovely bay window that would make a perfect window seat or fit a teepee for Pugsey to sleep in. I love grey for the living room, actually probably for every room atm, but I think it works really well and goes with everything so it will be perfect for me to add a little bit of an accent colour in as well. I love picture walls too, and I still haven't printed any big wedding photos for my wall so would love to make a feature out of a few of them.

With that in mind I found a few items that I think would be perfect for my house. The Ikea frame comes in lots of sizes so would be perfect to make a feature photo wall with.

GoPro Hero

Friday, 7 August 2015

This week we bought a GoPro. It's something me and my husband have been looking to get for quite a while and with some vouchers we had to spend and we only ended up paying £15 for it. We didn't really want to be splurging on cameras at the moment so this seemed perfect.

There are quite a few features missing from the other models. The biggest downside for me was that it only shoots 1080p at 30 frames per second which isn't amazing. But we knew this going in and if we find that we are getting the use out of this one that we hope we will, we will maybe see about upgrading soon.

This model retails at around £95 so what you get for that money is great. It's waterproof up to 40m and the built in battery lasts up to 2.5 hours. This was another downside for me as you can't change the battery which is a bit of a pain when you are out shooting for a while, but it has a pretty good battery life.

For the price, I think this camera is a great piece of kit. Having said that I think after a few months of using it, we will try and upgrade to a better model as you do get what you pay for.

The Great British Bake Off - Episode 1

Thursday, 6 August 2015

The Bake Off has begun! I have been looking forward to this as much as the finale to PLL, no exaggeration. I love The Great British Bake Off and I've really enjoyed the build up on social media this year. I read up on all the contestants weeks ago and I must say I am very surprised at who went on week one.

This is your warning **Spoilers Ahead**

Just from the write ups I knew Flora was going to be awesome. I always love having a very young contestant as they always show that age doesn't matter when you are passionate about something. I really liked Stu and Paul's write ups too, not that that helped Stu in any way this week.

I think Stu just tried to hard to be different and original. His recipes just didn't work and every round was a bit of a disaster for him. It was a shame to see him leave this week but I don't think he would have lasted very long anyway. I liked Paul mainly because of the whole living in Wales thing, but actually watching him I think he could do OK in the competition.

Dorret didn't have the greatest of first weeks, but I think she will use that to her advantage and push herself next week. I don't think anyone has every been that upset over some chocolate mousse in week 1.

A favourite of mine from this weeks episode is Alvin. He was so lovely and think that he could be one of the under dogs of this series.

What did you think of the first episode of series 6? Do you have any favourites yet?

Disney Series - Fastpass Reservations

Wednesday, 5 August 2015

Hi guys, today I have another Disney series post for you all. My last post was looking at the restaurants that I have reserved for our holiday to Disneyworld Florida. Todays post is going to focus on the fastpasses that myself and Shane have reserved for the various rides in Disneyworld. The Disney website allows you to make fastpass reservations around 60 days before your trip, which is so helpful. We are also going to visit Universal Studios, Universal's Islands of Adventure, Aquatica, Busch Gardens and Wet 'n' Wild as we have tickets for these parks as well as Disney.  The fastpass reservations that we have made for Disney are:
