Hello Fresh Box Review

Tuesday, 27 January 2015

Last week I received my Hello Fresh Box, for those who haven't heard of Hello Fresh, they send out 3 recipes a week and all the ingredients that you need to make the meals. At first I was a little dubious to what the quality was going to be like but I was pleasantly surprised with what I received.

All the products they send are locally sourced in the UK and are amazing quality. The recipes are quite easy to follow and the meals were beautiful (even if I do say so myself).

I must say the price is a little off putting at first glance, I had received a voucher in the post so had quite a lot off. But after receiving the box and trying the meals I think the price is probably about right for the quality and how much easier it makes meal planning.

The only downside is that one of the recipes that came with the box I wasn't a massive fan of, but I used most of the ingredients to make a different dish anyway, so nothing was wasted.

Do you have any subscription boxes? What would you recommend?

The Mangle Street Murders - M.R.C. Kasasian - Review

Friday, 23 January 2015

Gower Street, London, 1882: Sidney Grice, London's most famous personal detective, is expecting a visitor. He drains his fifth pot of morning tea, and glances outside, where a young, plain woman picks her way between the piles of horse-dung towards his front door.

March Middleton is Sidney Grice's ward, and she is determined to help him on his next case. Her guardian thinks women are too feeble for detective work, but when a grisly murder in the slums proves too puzzling for even Sidney Grice's encyclopaedic brain, March Middleton turns out to be rather useful after all...

Set in a London still haunted by the spectre of the infamous Spring-heeled Jack, THE MANGLE STREET MURDERS is for those who like their crime original, atmospheric, and very, very funny.

Let me just start by saying, I know this won't be everyone's cup of tea. It is set in London around the time of Jack the Ripper and isn't the usual detective novel. The book doesn't take itself too seriously and, if the story doesn't make you want to keep reading (it will), the humour and characters will.

At first Sidney Grice's character was a little annoying, but you come to sort of like the irritating attributes his voice gives the narrative. March Middleton is a strong, independent character in a time where women were usually seen and not heard. Her strong will and stubbornness plays a large roll in the humour between the two characters.

I really enjoyed this book. It wasn't overly long, just a little over 300 pages, and I have just found out that it is part of a series. I will definitely be getting the rest of the books as this was an unexpected delight.

What books are you enjoying at the moment?

January Pick Me Up's

Tuesday, 20 January 2015

I always get that feeling of a new start and a blank page at the start of January. A new year where anything can happen. But by the end of January that feeling starts to fade and the stress of life starts creeping back in.

I thought I would have a little browse through pinterest and bring you some of my favourite pick me ups and quotes that give inspiration for the new start and new year. It is never too late to draw a line under something you are not enjoying or that you have fallen out of love with and find a new journey to start, or fall back in love with what you are doing with a new perspective.

Monthly Beauty Favourites

Monday, 19 January 2015

This is a tad early for a monthly favourites but it is kind of a roll over from December as I didn't get a chance to upload my favourites and they haven't really changed.

So first off is Benefit Hello Flawless Foundation I have mentioned this in a post before but I still haven't found a foundation that comes even close. I don't wear makeup everyday as a rule but if I'm having a bit of a break out just putting a small amount of this on, not only masks it, but actually starts to clear my skin after the first day. Its also really buildable and matches my skin tone perfectly.

Soap & Glory Sugar Crush Body Scrub this has been something that I have wanted to try for so long. Every time I passed it in Boots I couldn't help but go a smell it, I know, I'm weird. I finally got my hands on it for Christmas and it really didn't disappoint. I was trying to keep it and only use it now and again but it's become a permanent fixture in my shower.

COLAB Dry Shampoo is something that, as with all blogger and YouTuber launches, was talked about everywhere. I walked into Superdrug and there was no way anyone could miss it! I was a little hesitant with trying it as some of the beauty blogger beauty products haven't been amazing but having dark hair I find it very difficult to use the normal dry shampoos without looking like I'm going grey. I am so glad I tried it. Again it has become a permanent fixture with my hair products. The smell is great and it leaves no trace in your hair. I love it even more now that I have died my hair green again as washing it all the time means I spend a fortune on dye, so this is perfect.

I have been using a Tangle Teaser for quite some time, it just wasn't my own. My sister bought one on a plane home a few years ago and I always had a sneaky go of hers whenever she was with me, so I never got around to getting my own. Just before Christmas I decided to bite the bullet and get my own as the dark hair in the brush was starting to be a big giveaway when she has blonde. I don't know how anyone can live without one of these, especially in all this windy weather we are having at the moment. I urge everyone with even slightly knotty hair to go get one, it will be one of the best decisions you've made this month.

And last but not least E.L.F. Eyebrow Kit and Angled Brush. I am not going to lie, my eyebrows have a life of their own. If it wasn't for Holly in Benefit Cardiff taming them every few weeks, my monobrow would be out for all the world to see. I have really thick bushy eyebrows but they also go a little patchy in a few places so this brow kit works perfectly to fill them in without looking like I've drawn them on. It gives a very natural look and with the angled brush is super easy to use. And an added bonus is the amazing prices in E.L.F.

What are your beauty favourites this month?

January TBR

Sunday, 18 January 2015

As I said a few weeks ago in my Goals of 2015 post, I am going to aim to read at least 2 books a month. I decided to start off as I mean to go on and picked 3 books to read for January to push myself.

I don't know which one I am more excited for. Reviews will be up as soon as I have finished each one.

Are you reading any good books at the moment?

Missguided Haul

Friday, 16 January 2015

Over the last few weeks I have been loving Missguided, there is always a ton of clothes in my wish list. At the moment it's probably one of my favourite stores, the quality of the clothing is amazing and so reasonably priced. I can never seem to find anything in New Look, Primark or Topshop but Missguided there is always something. I made a sneaky order today to cheer myself up, here is what I picked up. As you can see I am LOVING shirt dresses, they are so comfortable and so easy to chuck on with a pair of tights and boots. I'm obsessed with them.

Crumb - Ruby Tandoh - Review & Giveaway

Thursday, 15 January 2015

I was so happy Christmas morning when I opened this book, I had told everyone I wanted it, just incase they were looking for ideas. After picking it up a few weeks before Christmas and having a quick flick through, I fell in love with it. The images, the feel of the pages, the recipes themselves, everything was amazing.

I watched Ruby Tandoh on The Great British Bake Off and really liked her baking. So as soon as I seen this in the shops, I couldn't wait to get my hands on it.

The cakes look awesome and there are some things I wouldn't have even contemplated making myself that she makes sounds so easy, I am definitely going to try. I cannot wait to get baking and making all of my favourite recipes from the book.

So on to the best bit!

I loved this book so much, I decided to go and get another one and give it away to one of our lovely readers! I hope whoever wins will enjoy it as much as I do!

**This giveaway is UK only and will run for one week.

Good Luck!

Joules Fizzing Bath Bulbs - Review

Sunday, 11 January 2015

My parents bought me these beautiful Joules Fizzing Bath Bulbs for Christmas this year and I was so excited as every year I see them in boots and comment on how awesome they smell and look.

The packaging is lovely and I really didn't want to spoil the look of it by using any of them. I opted for the white one just wrapped in plastic as the others were so nice. Now if any of you read my review of Zoella's Fizz Bar, you will know that I wasn't a major fan. It didn't produce any sort of bubbles and the water went back normal within minutes not even the smell stayed. I was expecting the same reaction to these after I put it in the bath and there were no bubbles. However the water stayed cloudy and fragrant and I could feel it on my skin afterwards.

It wasn't an over powering product, and if you are used to the fireworks of Lush Cosmetics I feel like you will probably be slightly disappointed with its lack of theatre and subtle fragrance. Overall I feel like I am just probably not a fizzer kind of person but I was pleasantly pleased in the product in comparison to Zoella's.

Have you tried Joules' Fizzing Bath Bulbs? What bath products would you recommend at the moment?

Missguided Christmas

Thursday, 8 January 2015

Hi Guys, I thought I would put together a post on the clothes I received for Christmas from my parents from Missguided. I decided to use the photos from the Missguided website as the clothes looked a lot better on the models, haha. I decided to get all my clothes this year for christmas from Missguided as I couldn't find anything I really liked elsewhere. I absolutely love this website and cannot recommend it enough. The quality of the clothes is amazing and reasonably priced.

Thanks for reading!

We Are All Completely Beside Ourselves - Karen Joy Fowler - Review

Wednesday, 7 January 2015

Rosemary's young, just at college, and she's decided not to tell anyone a thing about her family. So we're not going to tell you too much either: you'll have to find out for yourselves, round about page 77, what it is that makes her unhappy family unlike any other. Rosemary is now an only child, but she used to have a sister the same age as her, and an older brother. Both are now gone - vanished from her life. There's something unique about Rosemary's sister, Fern. And it was this decision, made by her parents, to give Rosemary a sister like no other, that began all of Rosemary's trouble. So now she's telling her story: full of hilarious asides and brilliantly spiky lines, it's a looping narrative that begins towards the end, and then goes back to the beginning. Twice. It's funny, clever, intimate, honest, analytical and swirling with ideas that will come back to bite you.

When I ordered this book a few weeks ago, I had no idea what it was about. The reviews were excellent and it had won so many awards I felt slightly obligated to read it, like I was missing out on something amazing. I feel like I say this in every review but I hate when a book hyped up, this story was great but the hype, yet again, let it down.

The twist is something totally unexpected, to me anyway, and changed the story completely. As the story unraveled towards the end I found that I had been taken in and actually didn't see any of it coming. It was a truly unique book that I really did enjoy it. Fowler's writing is so easy to read and flowed so well even though she was flitting back and forth between the past and present. I will definitely keep my eye out for more of her writing, I just won't read all the hype first.

Have you read any good books lately? Any reads worth the hype?

Goals of 2015

Monday, 5 January 2015

I never make new years resolutions. I like to have the feeling of a new start in the new year, but I hate the pressure resolutions give you. So even though these are goals I have for 2015 I did start a few of them during the end of last year so I wouldn't have the fear of waking up on the 1st of January to massive set of rules I had set myself.

Read at least 2 books a month

Now this is not a massive goal but some months I do find I don't give myself enough time to read. It is something I love doing and I have found I have got into the horrible habit of taking my laptop to bed with me at night instead of a book. So in 2015 I will try to read at least 2 books a month and put my laptop down at a reasonable hour so I have time to relax and read before I sleep.

Buy more music

This again is not a massive goal but I am from a generation that when I was old enough to buy my own music it was readily available online for free, illegally I may add, but all the same I never had to pay for it. Now that my husband is in a band and I can see how badly this has effected the industry I feel annoyed at myself for being a part of it. Music is something that nearly all of my friends have a passion for, even if they are not musical themselves we all have a common interest in music. I may be doing it for the Karma points, but I will buy at least one album a month and encourage my friends to do the same, and hopefully my prior misdemeanours won't come back to bite me on the butt.

Run at least twice a week

Or at least do some sort of workout. This year I have promised some friends that I would do the Welsh Three Peaks Challenge and also a local race called the Nos Galon that shuts down our village every New Years Eve. Even though I have been known to go for a run every now and again and I did do that 30 day yoga challenge for a while, I am by no means anywhere near fit enough to do either of these events. So I will be forcing myself to do some training and stick to some sort of routine.

Drink more water

This kind of fits in with the last one. When I was in school I used to drink lots of water, I would never drink anything else. And even though I still prefer water to fizzy drinks I have gotten out of the habit somewhere down the line of drinking as much as I should.

So 2015 will hopefully be the year I get fitter, read more and get some good karma points back. Have you got any goals or resolutions for 2015? Have you broken any already?

What I got for Christmas - Part 2 - Other

Sunday, 4 January 2015

Hi again guys, you may have seen Part One of 'What I got for Christmas - Makeup'. I now have Part Two, where I will be showing you a few other bits that I received. I'd like to say again that I am not in any way bragging, I just wanted to show you the other few things that I was lucky enough to receive.

Here are a few bath/shower goodies that I received. The first one was from my mother and father and was the Soap & Glory Sweet Lime Gift Set, this set includes a Sugar Crush Body Wash, Sugar Crush Hand Food Cream, Sugar Crush Body Scrub, Sugar Crush Body Buttercream and a Suds Boosting Body Polisher. I love this box set as the Sugar Crush Body Scrub is one of my favourite Soap & Glory Products, it's smells so fresh. The next few things were Lush goodies off my boyfriend. In Lush if you pick out a few products you can pay to have it all in wrapped in a beautiful scarf, I thought this idea was so unique and lovely. My boyfriend remembered all of my favourite Lush products and did this for me. He bought me the Luxury Lush Pud Bath Bomb, Candy Mountain Bubble Bar, The Comforter Bubble Bar, Magic Wand Bubble Bar and Northern Lights Bath Ballistic, he also very kindly bought the Snow Fairy Shower Gel, which I love.  I cannot wait to use all these products.

My boyfriend also surprised me with a Pandora bracelet which I was completely blown away by. This come as a total surprise as I had not even mentioned a Pandora Bracelet as I knew they are quite pricey. He bought me the Pandora bracelet which holds all the charms and in another box was a small sleigh ornament with a little bag in the back, in this bag was a safety chain and a Statue of Liberty charm, as this was our first holiday together, it was absolutely beautiful. I can't wait to start filling up this bracelet with more charms.  He also treated me to a lovely pair of black Converse which I had been eyeing up for ages and the book 'Girl Online' by Zoe Sugg which I thoroughly enjoyed reading. I wrote a blogpost reviewing this book here.  My friends Abi (who also runs this blog) and her husband Nick were also very kind and bought me a Mickey Mouse money box for christmas, this was such a thoughtful idea as I am going to Disneyland Florida in September and this can help me to save.

I really am so grateful for all the gifts I received this Christmas, I feel very lucky.

I hope you all had a lovely day!

Starting the New Year With A Relaxing Bath

Friday, 2 January 2015

The last few weeks have been a pretty quiet time for Wanderlust Daydreaming. Savannah was having a bit of a stressful time so I took over for a few weeks but then trying to run a business around Christmas on my own and deciding to move house two days before Christmas took its toll and something had to give. I did keep up with vlogmas for a little while but that was taking up too much time too so I have had a little break away from the internet.

I am looking forward to fresh start in a new year and I can't wait to see what 2015 will bring for this blog. We have exceeded every expectation that we had for Wanderlust Daydreaming in 2014, so it's exciting to have a brand new year in front of us.

I thought I would start January off as relaxed as possible in a new bath with all my lovely new products that I had for Christmas. Reviews will be going up over the next few weeks as well as lots of other content that me and Savannah can't wait to upload.

So I hope the break wasn't too long and that you are all still reading! We are most definitely back and can't wait to get the ball rolling again for 2015. I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and New Year!

What I got for Christmas 2014 - Part 1 - Makeup

Thursday, 1 January 2015

Hi guys, I hope you all had an amazing Christmas and New Year!
I finally have an actual post ready, haha. This post is one of two as I have split it into sections. I've been watching and reading a lot of different peoples 'What I got for Christmas' tags, I really enjoy these videos/blogposts as I love seeing what people received for Christmas, very nosey, haha. Before I start I'd like to say that I am in no way bragging, I just really enjoy reading these posts and I thought I would create my own.

One of the first things I am going to talk about is the Estee Lauder Gift Set which I received off my boyfriend. I am not sure what the set is called, however it contained three Long Lasting Lipsticks in the shades, Candy, Tiger Eye and Pink Parfait, an Intense Kajal Eyeliner in Blackened Black, a Pure Colour Nail Lacquer in the colour Fallen Angel,  two small samples of the Modern Muse Perfume,  a small bottle of Advanced Night Repair, Revitalizing Supreme Anti Ageing Creme,  a bottle of Gentle Eye Makeup Remover,  a Lipgloss Palette with the shades, Pink Kiss, Magnificent Mauve and Mod Poppy, an Eyeshadow/Blush palette with the shades, Sugar Cube, Sugar Biscuit, Riviera Rose, Ivory Slipper, Tempting Mocha, Lilac Whimsy, Hot Cinnamon, Nude Fresco, Wild Truffle, Amethyst Spark, Lavish Mink and Chocolate Bliss and two blushers, Peach Passion and Sensuous Rose and finally in this set was the Sumptuous Extreme Lash Multiplying Volume Mascara in Extreme Black. This set also comes with a train case and a makeup bag. I love this gift so much and is perfect for all makeup lovers.

The next thing I am going to talk about is the 'Charlotte Tilbury  - Love is the Drug Lipstick and Blusher Set'.  The lipstick shade is Night Crimson and the blusher is Love is the Drug. I honestly could not believe that my boyfriend bought me this. As soon as I opened the wrapping paper and saw the purple box with a gold 'CT' on the front, I nearly collapsed, this sounds very dramatic I know, but I just couldn't believe it.  I had been lusting after this set for so long and on a recent trip to London I even stood by the Charlotte Tilbury counter in Selfridges eyeing it up, my boyfriend even said on Christmas Day that he had bought it way before the trip to London, the sneaky bugger, haha. This set is absolutely beautiful as you can imagine. The packaging is so luxurious and is going to look so lovely in my makeup collection.

These next few things were off my mother and father, my sister and my boyfriend. On christmas morning I opened the original Naked palette off my mother and father and was so excited as I don't own any of the Naked palettes. Then my sister handed me her gift to me and I nearly freaked out when I opened it and it was the Naked 2 palette, I felt so lucky. Then my boyfriend arrived in the evening and handed me a gift and as I ripped off the wrapping paper I could see 'Naked 3', I couldn't believe it. My boyfriend also bought me Benefit Rockateur,  Benefit Porefessional and a Mac lipstick in the shade 'Velvet Teddy', which was extremely kind of him. My mother and father handed me a bag full of makeup goodies on Christmas morning, which included, Nars Creamy Concealer - Chantilly, Mac Blush in Well Dressed, Nars Laguna Bronzer, Mac Lipstick in the shade Pink Nouveau, Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick - Rose, Mac Mineralize Skinfinish in Soft and Gentle, Nars Blush in Deep Throat and Naked Skin Ultra Definition Pressed Powder

I am extremely grateful for all these presents and was not expecting them at all. I feel very lucky.
I'd like to say again, I am in no way bragging I just thought you may be interested in seeing what I had for Christmas as I love seeing what you got. I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and let me know in the comments what you did on Christmas Day or New Years Eve as I would love to hear.

Happy New Year!
