Gone Girl Film Review

I finally got the chance to go and watch Gone Girl in the cinema this week after reading the book and being desperate to see how it adapted to film. You can see my review of the book here.

Now I know there is a lot of talk over the ending not being great, and the book had the same issue, but I don't see it as a massive deterrent for either. It isn't what I was expecting and it isn't what I would have wanted to happen, but I can see it as a plausible ending for these characters. The film made it slightly more believable than the book and you could really feel Nick Dunn's struggle but it is what it is.

Now on to the film itself, I went to see it with 3 friends that hadn't read the book before hand and it was really interesting to gauge their reaction to the storyline. I really enjoyed the film, more than I thought I would for a book to film adaptation, there were slight differences, but nothing that veers to far from the plot.  I thought that both Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike were really good casting choices and were believable characters.

The one grievance I did have with the film was that it was slightly longer than I was expecting. They did have a lot of story to cram in but I did, at some points, find myself clock watching.

Overall I think that it Gone Girl is a definite must see, whether you have read the book or not, you will enjoy it. The story line and plot twists will really get you thinking and second guessing your thoughts.

    1. No it wasn't disappointing, I really enjoyed it! Just wished it was slightly shorter, I think they've done a really good job of adapting the book to a film.

  2. I really loved the book and was anxiously awaiting the movie as well. I really liked the movie, I thought they did a wonder job adapting it to the big screen, but I agree it was a tad too long.

    Great review!
