Goodbye To Company Magazine

Sunday, 21 September 2014

So last week I called into my local Tesco to pick up the final print copy of Company Magazine and to say I was gutted is an understatement. I really love everything about this magazine, and I know its still going to be online, but it loses some of the magic not having its awesome matt pages for you to feel.

I think that Company are one of the very few magazines on the market today that have really embraced the internet culture that we live in, not just on its website but also in print. The way they include bloggers as a normality in everyone of their issues just show how on point and ahead of the game they were years ago.

I also really love the editorials that they create. They always seem to be so fresh and new and, as a photographer I have always used their magazines, whether it be the editorials or any other part, as inspiration for my own projects.

So I, for one, am very disappointed that Company will no longer be on the shelves with all the other magazines. I love the internet but it will never take the place of print media. In my eyes they are 2 totally different entities that can survive in the same world.

  1. I'm so sad about this as well! I totally agree about giving them credit for involving bloggers, some of my favourite Company articles have been ones that included fashion bloggers. would really love if you could check out my fashion blog? :)

  2. Its such a shame but to be honest I liked how company were back in the day! I wasn’t keen on the redesign. Maybe they will do better online?! :-) xx

    1. Hopefully they will keep going strong online. It would be a shame to lose Company completely.

  4. Oh no! I'm gutted to hear that :( I haven't read Company much since moving abroad, so I've had to rely on digital editions, but I'm definitely with you on that. Even with the rise of tablets, reading a digital copy isn't quite the same as having the print copy in hand. It's been awhile since neatly stacked magazines weren't a part of my room decor. Do you think print media will one day completely be replaced by their online editions?

    1. I hope not! The same with books. I love the feel of a book/magazine in my hand. I would hate to think that one day everything would rely on us being attached to some sort of device for any form of media.
